Local Products of Colorado SWEEPS The Last Caregivers Cup!
Hydroponic grown #60 BC. Purps(Mendo Purps orgins- Sativa) was winner
of all three medical marijuana events- People's Choice, Most Photogenic,
& Best Aroma grown by Rudy Perez & Angel Cruz. Strain offering
is said to be very effective for nausea. A big margin winner by
23 votes among the couple hundred patients and caregivers in attendance.
Top Shelf Extracts also WINS BIG with 1st Place Hash entry
#54 Tree Kush, Oil- #55 Bruce Banner, and #53 Ear wax-Bubba Banner
in another sweep of the competition.
Unusual compared to past competitions was the fact that contestant
offerings of Hash, Hash oil, Ear Wax far out numbered the provided
strains of Medical Marijuana by a considerable margin. A stark contrast
to Last November, 2010 2nd Annual Caregivers Cup, which found the
two competitions 'neck to neck'with 22 strain offerings of medical
marijuana and 19 strains of Hash, Hash Oil, & Ear wax.
Possible reason for the fair turnout of wellness centers/ marijuana
infused products manufacturers, patients who grow, and caregiver
growers providing medical marijuana for this competition may be
due to July 1 new laws and regulations severely restricting their
activities and having considerable oversight.
Infused products category was won by Veronica Carpio of 420
Highways wellness center of Lafayette with a 420 Topical Balm
made from lemon skunk and Maui Wowie. The combination Indica and
Sativa mixed with olive oil and shea butter is said to be good for
pain, skin wounds/healing rash, bites and more.
Great band offerings included excellant rhythm and blues live music
by Euphoria Fax,& and a strong Hip Hop set by the impressive
J.O.B. Band.
Lots of happy patients, caregivers, and legal cannabis professionals
appeared to enjoy the carnival atmosphere which included medicated
offerings of Green Chilli, Nachos, Teas (green and blueberry), and
even Hemp-I-Scream (non-medicated) for dessert.
There was little talk of politics this evening, but the general
consensus among patients appeared to be that government has no business
in "their medicine cabinet", pending the July 1st 2011
new laws. Also due to recent rules changes affecting both patients
and caregivers by the C.D.P.H.E. Board of Health.
Some have argued the rules enacted by the BOH are unconstitutional,
and pending new laws are said to soon have two Constitutional based
lawsuits attempting to derail an obvious climate of over-regulation.
The collective model appears to be more appealing now, as one restriction
not enacted by Colorado governemental bodies, to date, involves
the opportunity for patients to assist patients. Constitutional
protections remain intact under Article 18 Sec. 14 (Amendment 20).
The close of an eight year run of legal patient community development
events under the "ONE LOVE people get Ready" umbrella,
with a three year caregivers cup competition, once again, found
no law enforcement interactions at the private legal patient and
caregiver event held at Denver's Historic Oriental Theater.
THE CAREGIVERS' CUP
The cup itself is treated similar to professional
hockey's famous Stanley Cup, a glass piece from Washington artist
Wes Richards said to be worth over $10,000. It sits on a wooden
pedestal adorned with past winners plaques, and, at well over five
foot tall, may be the largest legal cannabis competition cup in
the world.

Our first Caregivers' Cup event was a huge success. Many thanks
to the Oriental Theatre for hosting the event. We had 26 beautiful
entries and the judges had a fine time! Dan Skye of High Times
took pictures of everything for a feature story on Colorado in the

The Colorado Cannabis Caregiver's Cup is a competition among legal
patients and caregivers to see who has cultivated the "best"
medical cannabis (medical marijuana). Since different cannabis strains
are used to treat so many different conditions, judging the "best"
medicine for all patients would be impossible. Therefore, we judge
the medicine based on aesthetic properties. Awards are given in
these categories: Most Photogenic, Best Aroma, Stickiest Bud and
the coveted Patient's Choice Award.
